All of these questions and concerns are very normal and every parent sometimes finds themselves overcome with worry for their child. Seeking support for your child's emotional wellbeing is a process and it can feel hard to take the first step, but I'm here to sit down with you and move through your worries, questions and concerns in order to provide high quality therapeutic services that includes both support for you and your child.
Why Therapy?
Therapy for your child can help ease anxiety and worry for both of you. I support children in moving through their big feelings, as I take their lead in the therapy session and create a safe and supportive space that provides channels for expression and ways for a child to make sense of their world. Children can gain a strong sense of agency over their feelings and experiences within the therapeutic relationship that will help alleviate the challenges they are having at home or at school, such as a difficult time interacting with friends and peers at school, high levels of worry, aggression or sadness. A therapeutic relationship and environment is proven to help decrease stress levels and support cognitive development for any child, preventing risk for mental illness as they grow up.
Individual Child Therapy
My specialty is working with children. I incorporate a range of modalities including creative arts therapies, play therapy, cognitive behavioral (CBT) and mindfulness/ grounding techniques. Individual therapy sessions are 45 minutes in length and may include a check-in or collateral session with the parent/caregiver. Collateral sessions with parents/caregivers are opportunities to provide a deep level of support for the main caregivers in the child's life, for the nurturer to receive nurture. During collateral sessions, parents can share about the challenges and joys in being with their children, receive support and explore techniques and treatment modalities they may utilize at home.

Early Childhood Peer Play Group Therapy
I'm a certified practitioner of Early Childhood Peer Play Group Therapy, a valuable therapeutic modality for children ages 3 to 6 who are beginning to socialize and learn how to communicate. This type of group work for children helps build language skills and supports school-readiness, the development of self-regulation, differentiation, and cooperative play. The groups are organized according to age group and include monthly collateral sessions with parents.
